At G&M Manufacturing we stamp many parts for the automotive industry. Our primary process was stamping utilizing our 100 ton capacity Minster straight side press. The steel insert was 83.6 mm long, 64 mm wide and 15 mm high. The bracket is composed of HSLA steel, specifically SAE J 1392 grade 050XLF with a thickness of 2 mm. The substrate was plated utilizing zinc trivalent black. We annually manufacture 20,000 steel inserts for our Midwest automotive customer. Working with our customer’s specifications and CAD drawings we were able to stay within their ±.1 mm tolerances. Customer satisfaction and high quality are priorities, an OGP vision system was used to ensure dimensional requirements. This project showcases our multiple processes including progressive die stamping and zinc trivalent black plating.
